MusicPlayer Support

MusicPlayer is a free iPhone app for finding and playing music. Search for songs, artists and playlists, browse by mood, or pick something from Home. Line up what plays next, keep favorites and your own playlists, and set a sleep timer for the night. There’s no account to make. Your library stays on your iPhone, and the app is supported by ads.

Common questions

A song says “Couldn’t play … Skipping.”

The service the song comes from wouldn’t play it right now. It may have been removed, be unavailable where you are, or be blocked for a while. MusicPlayer skips to the next song so your music keeps going.

If several songs in a row fail, the app stops and says These songs won’t play right now. Try again later. If you see Playback stopped — check your connection, the problem is the network: check Wi-Fi or cellular, then tap Play to try again from the same spot.

Still happening? Check for a fix in Settings → Check for Updates. If that doesn’t help, email us the song’s name and artist.

Does music keep playing with the screen off?

Yes, for songs that play as audio. Lock your iPhone or switch to another app and they keep going. Control them from the Lock Screen and Control Center. To choose the buttons beside Play there, go to Settings → Playback → Lock Screen and pick Next & Previous or Skip 10 Seconds.

Songs that play as a video pause when you leave the app, for now. To keep one going, stay in Now Playing and turn on Settings → Playback → Keep Screen On, which stops your iPhone from locking while Now Playing plays.

How do I use the sleep timer?

In Now Playing, tap the moon below the play controls. Choose 15, 30 or 45 minutes, 1 hour, or End of Current Song. The moon fills in while a timer is on, and the music pauses when it runs out. To cancel, tap the moon again and choose Off.

Live streams don’t end, so End of Current Song isn’t offered for them. Pick a number of minutes instead.

Can I pick up where I left off?

Yes, in two ways.

  • When you reopen the app. With Settings → Playback → Resume Where You Left Off on (it’s on by default), MusicPlayer reopens with your queue, paused at the spot where you stopped. Tap Play to carry on.
  • From History. History remembers where you stopped in each song or video. Open it again from History and it starts at that same second.

Those saved spots are part of your listening history. When you clear History, they are removed too. Songs played with Save Listening History turned off aren’t remembered.

How do I back up and restore my library?
  1. Go to Settings → Library Backup → Export Backup.
  2. Save the .musicplayer file somewhere safe, for example in Files or iCloud Drive, or AirDrop it to another iPhone.
  3. To restore, tap Import Backup and choose the file. You can also open the file from Files or Mail.
  4. Choose Merge to add its playlists and favorites to yours, or Replace to swap yours for the ones in the backup.

A backup holds your playlists and favorites. It doesn’t include your listening history. If iCloud Sync is on, Replace also changes your playlists and favorites on your other devices signed in to iCloud.

How do I clear my history?

Open History in Library and tap Clear, or go to Settings → Privacy → Clear Listening History. This removes every song from History on this iPhone, along with the spot saved for each one. Your favorites and playlists stay.

The song that was playing and your queue aren’t part of History, so they stay for the next time you open the app. To stop keeping them, turn off Settings → Playback → Resume Where You Left Off.

To stop keeping history, turn off Settings → Privacy → Save Listening History. For searches, use Clear Recent Searches and Save Search History in the same place.

How do I change my ad privacy choices?

Ads keep MusicPlayer free. Here’s how to control them:

  • Tracking: on your iPhone, open Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking and turn MusicPlayer on or off. With tracking off, you still see ads, but they aren’t based on tracking you across other companies’ apps and websites.
  • Ad consent: in regions where the law requires it, such as the European Economic Area and the UK, the app shows Settings → Privacy → Ad Privacy Options. Tap it to change the choices you made in Google’s consent form.

Read more in our Privacy Policy.

How do I report a song or other content?

MusicPlayer plays music from third-party services, YouTube and Audius, and we take reports seriously. If something is offensive, harmful, infringes your rights, or is labeled wrong, please tell us. We review every report within 24 hours and remove content that breaks our rules from the app for everyone.

  1. Tap ⋯ next to the song, or in Now Playing, and choose Report Song.
  2. MusicPlayer opens an email to us with the song’s title, artist, ID and link already filled in, along with your app and iOS versions.
  3. Under What’s wrong:, tell us what the problem is, then send it.

Please include:

  • what is wrong: for example offensive content, a copyright problem or the wrong title or artist;
  • where you saw it, such as Home, a search, a mood or a playlist;
  • if you own the rights, who you are and what you own.

For an artist, playlist or podcast, email us its name and where you saw it.

If your iPhone can’t open an email, MusicPlayer shows our address with a Copy Address button. Paste it into any email app and write to us: support@kimngan.uk.

Don’t want to see an artist at all? Tap ⋯ next to one of their songs and choose Hide Artist. Their songs, playlists and page no longer show in Home, Search or other lists on your iPhone. To see them again, go to Settings → Privacy → Show Hidden Artists.
